The values of Iron Annie

Iron Annie⤙s watches stand for quality craftsmanship and the highest precision. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the family-owned company PointTec, the new anniversary series Iron Annie appeared on the market. The company also produces their world-famous Junkers watches. Mainly high-quality movements from Swiss or Japanese manufacturers are used. Iron Annie stands for the seal "Ade in Germany". The assembly of the watches is carried out exclusively in Germany in the most careful way. Iron Annie watches are robust, reliable and have a distinctive design typical of the brand.
Thanks to a flexible production method, the company is able to produce watches specially made for customer needs. The cooperation partners include renowned industrial companies, trading companies and other customers. Companies such as Bosch, Volkswagen, Siemens, Lufthansa and many more. In order to be able to perceive and implement every single customer request, all design requests are accompanied in a specially organized design department from the initial idea to the finished product.

What makes an Iron Annie watch

Basically, all Iron Annie watches are waterproof. However, it does not necessarily mean that they should push the clocks to the end. Of course, it always depends on the respective model. If you're not sure which waterproofing is best for your use, feel free to check out our waterproofing guide guide. Please note, however, that the waterproofness can be affected over time by certain disturbing factors (sun, salt water).
Only three types of glasses are used for the production of the watches: K1 safety glass, sapphire glass and hesalite glass. Quartz watches use movements from the Swiss manufacturer ETA and Ronda. Mechanical watches feature movements from renowned manufacturers such as Sellita (Switzerland) and the Japanese manufacturers Miyota and Seiko (Japan).

difference quartz watches and mechanical watches

Basically, quartz watches draw their energy from batteries, which have to be replaced after a certain period of time. The second hand, unlike the mechanical watch, moves erratically. Mechanical watches have movements that use a mainspring as power or energy storage. A distinction is made between two types. On the one hand, hand-wound movements, where the crown has to be wound by hand. On the other hand, there are automatic movements, in which the winding follows the arm movement of the watch wearer.

relationship with aviation

The brand owes its existence to a true classic of aviation history. The Junkers aircraft with the designation JU 52, which is still airworthy today, is a true masterpiece. With the JU 52, Junkers rose over the years to become one of the most successful aircraft manufacturers in the world. The aircraft, which is still airworthy, is currently owned by Lufthansa and has always been affectionately called Iron Annie by the Americans. In order to keep the memory of the aviation icon alive, the watchmakers have taken their cue from the nickname Iron Annie. Since 2017, watches have been produced based on the unique JU 52. Each watch is designed to reflect the incomparable and nostalgic character of the aircraft.
In addition to the high quality, the elaborate cases in a historic look contribute to the fact that not only aviation fans, but also watch lovers appreciate the watches.
