The beech is a deciduous tree that reaches a height of up to 35 m. In Europe, beech wood - especially red beech wood - is used in particular as construction and furniture wood. It is comparable in hardness to oak wood and is one of the heavy native hardwoods.

It owes its name to the slightly reddish hue of its wood. Beech is processed both in its natural form and after damping of the wood. Due to this attenuation, the reddish coloration can be enhanced. The symbolism of the beech tree originated some time ago, because the beech forest was already perceived by Celtic-Germanic tribes as a maternal being.
