Our watch of the week is the Citizen JY8085-14H men’s watch. The brand Citizen impresses with its exceptional quality when it comes to solar watches, quartz watches and automatic watches. This model also has versatile qualities, which we will be presenting to you…
The brand Citizen
In 1918 the “Shoukousha Watch Research Institute” was founded, which would later become the “CITIZEN Watch Co.”. During the 20s all the timepieces present in Japan were still being imported from overseas. The first CITIZEN watch appeared on the Japanese market in 1924, six years after the company was founded. During those six years the founder also opened a watchmakers’ school, in order to educate the workers about the watchmaking craft and let them acquire the expertise they needed.
CITIZEN WATCH is today a real manufactory for the branch, going through the complete process of watchmaking, from the development and production of the single elements of watches to the final assembly. The company is operative in more than 100 countries.
The Citizen JY8085-14H
The watch of the week has an Eco-Drive radio-controlled mechanism, qualifying both as a radio-controlled watch and as a solar watch. The mechanism has a power reserve of 180 days and a power reserve in the dark of 3,5 years. The watch also presents a black leather strap as well as a black titanium case. The dial is also black, showing white baton markers and three Arabic numerals, along with luminescent hands. Beside the classical functions of a watch, this model has also a chronometer, the remaining energy and Universal Time indication, a perpetual calendar and dial illumination. Its 20-bar waterproof feature also makes it automatically a diver’s watch.
Another version of the watch is the Citizen JY8100-80L. In this case, we are presenting the same model to you, but with different colour and strap materials. This model is provided, in fact, with a silver link strap in titanium as well as with a silver titanium case. The dial is, in this case, dark blue and not black, like in the former case.
